FIFA Rant (How to Football without Big Wigs)

Today is the opening game of the World Cup – I’m excited, no I’m not! Deep down I think I should have gone to Brazil and stand with the people in the streets but I’ll be watching on tv instead like most Brazilians and feeling guilty about it. I’m telling myself this is the last World Cup I’m willing to be complicit in the makings of FIFA, for old time’s sake.

So how do we get to support soccer in this country and around the world without supporting FIFA? If anything, Canada has done a fantastic job nurturing the game on a grass roots level. But the FIFA U20 and senior Women’s World Cup are around the corner and the CSA is preparing a bid for the men’s World Cup that will come with the same requirements for host countries as in Brazil such as tax excemption.

World Cup Music Fever

The World Cup in Brazil is drawing closer so what better way to prepare than to listen to some soccer tunes. You are thinking Ricky Martin in France 1998? Well, there is much more to it than that, in fact we have to go way back to uncover the archelogical depth of World Cup music history.

This is the contribution of La Mannschaft over the years 🙂 Add to the collection by posting a comment with a YouTube link…

1978 – Buenos Dias, Argentina
